Book Club: "The Great Gatsby"- 02.26.2016

On February 26th the monthly Book club event was held at the American Corner Bitola. The members of the EdUSA Competitive College Club Bitola were reading the book "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The plot of the book was broadly discussed by the students with the help of Peace Corps Volunteer Charles McKinney. The book caught the attention of the students and numerous questions related to the characters and their roles, the work of the writer and the idea of this book and how it applies to the modern time were just some of the topics debated during this Book Club.

2016 EducationUSA Competitive College Club Bitola Meeting

On February 24th 2016 the American Corner Bitola organized a regular meeting for the participants of the 2016 EducationUSA Competitive College Club Bitola. As usual, the session was led by the Senior EdUSA adviser Biljana and on this meeting the students had the chance to present interesting facts about ivy league schools in the U.S. Also at the meeting they met with local Peace Corps Volunteer Helen Nicholas who talked them through the application process and the criteria from the admission office.

CLIPS students visit to the Corner

On February 20th 2016 the members of the Civic Leadership in Prilep Scholars Program (CLIPS) visited the American Corner Bitola. Senior EdUSA adviser Biljana talked more to the students about the work of the American Corner Bitola and the EducationUSA Bitola activities, the current programs and projects.  This visit led by Prilep's Peace Corps Volunteers Nick Husted had the purpose of introducing the CLIPS members to all resources of the American Corner Bitola especially to the EducationUSA network.  CLIPS is a comprehensive youth development program that is composed of overachieving high school students from Prilep. It is conducted of program components with the aim of developing students into civic leaders.

On this 3rd CCC meeting in February, CCC students from Bitola together with local Peace Corps Volunteer Helen Nicholas and senior EdUSA adviser Biljana Kuzmanovska Tasetovikj discussed the types of U.S. colleges and universities.

On February 10th, American Corner Bitola organized a regular meeting for the participants of the 2016 EducationUSA Competitive College Club Bitola. As usual, the session was led by the Senior EdUSA adviser Biljana and the students had the chance to learn more about applying to U.S. universities and talked more on why they want to study in the US. Also at the meeting they met with local Peace Corps Volunteer Helen Nicholas who talked more about her college experience and later on working in college admission office.
