YALE-EDUCATIONUSA COLLEGE CONFERENCE - Skopje, Macedonia
On May 8th, around 40 participants of YASA, a program of the Association of Yale Alumni together with the U.S. Embassy in Macedonia, American Corners Macedonia and EducationUSA organized the first ever Forum for learning about university education in the United States.
The goal of this event was to share information about university education in the United States including insight into the Liberal Arts curriculum, the application process, and campus living so that students will consider the opportunities that may be available to them in the U.S.
During the official opening, the U.S. Ambassador to Macedonia, Mr. Jess Baily gave brief remarks about his Yale experience and the benefits of Liberal Art education.
The break-out sessions covered the following topics: The Liberal Arts Curriculum, Application Process and Marketing Yourself and Why Employers Like Students with a Liberal Arts Education and General Career Advice.
During the College Fair, the Yale group represented over 35 universities in the United States such as: Boston College, Connecticut College, Dana College, Hunter College, Middlebury College, Mount Holyoke College, Wellesley College, Columbia University, Cornell University, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, Kean University, New York University, Northern Kentucky University, Northwestern University, Stanford University, University of California at Los Angeles, University of California at San Diego, University of Colorado at Boulder, University of Connecticut, University of Michigan, University of Richmond, University of Washington, University of West Florida, University of Virginia, Yale University.
The conference also took place at the American Corner Struga on May 9th where part of the YASA participants held presentations on undergraduate and graduate studies in the United States.
