CCC meetings in April.

In April were organised three meetings from the EdUSA CCC in the AC Bitola. American Corner/Educational Center Bitola on the 1st of April announced the Certificates awarding ceremony for the members of the EducationUSA Competitive College Club Bitola for 2013. During this session, the CCC Bitola students had the honor to meet Ms. Cheryl Francisconi, Regional Educational Advising Coordinator (REAC) for Southern Europe EducationUSA, U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, and share their success stories.

        

  Members of the EdUSA CCC Bitola gathered for the 2nd time on the 15th of April to discuss their college search.The students had the opportunity to meet Ms. Joseph G. Martin, a Peace Corps volunteer in Bitola but also a Harvard Business School graduate who talked briefly about the U.S. higher education.



On April 22nd the members of the Competitive College Club visited the American Corner Bitola for the Book club event. "The Awakening" by Kate Chopin was the book that the participants needed to read in April. The attendees enjoyed in reading the story of this book. Also, the participants practiced and recognized the SAT words found in this book.

IEW SCHOOL VISITS As a part of International Education Week 2018, EducationUSA adviser Biljana K. Tasetovikj visited several Macedonian schools and colleges and spoke with more than 130 students about the opportunities of the U.S. higher education system. On November 13, she visited schools in south-west Macedonia, high schools "Niko Nestor" - Struga, "Yahya Kemal College" - Struga, Gymnasium "St. Kliment Ohridski" - Ohrid and the University of Information Science and Technology "St. Paul the Apostle" - Ohrid. The students had the chance to learn about opportunities to obtain undergraduate and graduate education in the USA as well as the benefits of becoming a member of the American Corner in Struga. The Basics of U.S. Higher Education w/ Ms. Trishita Maula

On April 7th 2016 the American Corner Bitola organized a Coffee with a Diplomat event on the topic “The Basics of U.S. Higher Education" with Ms. Trishita Maula, Second Secretary in the United States Foreign Service. Ms. Maula has previously served in U.S. Embassy Dhaka and the Permanent Mission of the United States to the United Nations in Geneva. She holds a degree in Economics and Mathematics from Barnard College, Columbia University and is a native of New York City. Higher Education in the U.S. is based on a core liberal arts and sciences curriculum that features a broad of humanities courses - art, science, music, history, philosophy, literature- along with in-depth focus on one particular discipline.
