Busy in February :)

In February the members from the Competitive College Club had numerous meetings.



The Competitive College Club had one more meeting scheduled in January, but due to some problems ipresenter’s schedule the meeting was rescheduled on February 1st. During this meeting the members of the Competitive College club met Peace Corps Volunteer Erin Houlihan and talked more about the SAT testing process and its importance for the students. Everyone had numerous questions about the preparation process for the test. The members of the club were also introduced to another practice when being part of the CCC – the Book club activity. This time the participants had the task to read the book “The Last of the Mohicans” and to discuss about it together with PCV Houlihan.


On February 5th 2014 the members of the EducationUSA Competitive College Club Bitola had their meeting with Ms. Biljana Kuzmanovska, Educational Adviser and AC Bitola Coordinator. On this meeting the Club was discussing about how to recognize financial aids data when searching for colleges and universities and to think of what major will they be interested in studying. Also Ms. Kuzmanovska once again pointed out to the students that they can use all the reliable sources of the Corner in any time.




Another meeting was the Book Club on 22nd February, during which they discussed about the book " I Know Why The Cadged Bird Sings" by Maya Angelou. The participants really liked the book by this famous American author and it inspired a great discussion, but also a great practice in English language skills. The CCC member Maja Grozdanovska led this conversation.
Also in February the members of the Competitive College Club met at the American Corner Bitola for an SAT preparation session. Marko Manevski, former CCC member held this session during which he gave tips and helpful guidelines. At the session, the CCC members also did their first practical SAT test exercises.
The members from the previous Competitive College Club enjoyed helping and leading the new Competitive College Club members through the SAT test.

IEW SCHOOL VISITS As a part of International Education Week 2018, EducationUSA adviser Biljana K. Tasetovikj visited several Macedonian schools and colleges and spoke with more than 130 students about the opportunities of the U.S. higher education system. On November 13, she visited schools in south-west Macedonia, high schools "Niko Nestor" - Struga, "Yahya Kemal College" - Struga, Gymnasium "St. Kliment Ohridski" - Ohrid and the University of Information Science and Technology "St. Paul the Apostle" - Ohrid. The Basics of U.S. Higher Education w/ Ms. Trishita Maula

On April 7th 2016 the American Corner Bitola organized a Coffee with a Diplomat event on the topic “The Basics of U.S. Higher Education" with Ms. Trishita Maula, Second Secretary in the United States Foreign Service. Ms. Maula has previously served in U.S. Embassy Dhaka and the Permanent Mission of the United States to the United Nations in Geneva. She holds a degree in Economics and Mathematics from Barnard College, Columbia University and is a native of New York City. Higher Education in the U.S. is based on a core liberal arts and sciences curriculum that features a broad of humanities courses - art, science, music, history, philosophy, literature- along with in-depth focus on one particular discipline.
