8th May Meeting

After defining their priorities and identifying preferable fields of study, the CCC Bitola members worked hard during their 1st EdUSA CCC meeting in May to learn how to use online resources, search engines and American Corner advising books in order to effectively narrow down their college choices. The students attending this meeting were also advised to refer to college and university websites for detailed information about application procedures, admission policies and international financial aid opportunities. "Your 5 Steps to U.S.Study" :https://www.educationusa.info/5_steps_to_study/was not only a great starting point and an excellent tool for the purposes of this meeting but it is also the most comprehensive resource for everyone who is interested in continuing their education in the United States.

IEW SCHOOL VISITS As a part of International Education Week 2018, EducationUSA adviser Biljana K. Tasetovikj visited several Macedonian schools and colleges and spoke with more than 130 students about the opportunities of the U.S. higher education system. On November 13, she visited schools in south-west Macedonia, high schools "Niko Nestor" - Struga, "Yahya Kemal College" - Struga, Gymnasium "St. Kliment Ohridski" - Ohrid and the University of Information Science and Technology "St. Paul the Apostle" - Ohrid. The students had the chance to learn about opportunities to obtain undergraduate and graduate education in the USA as well as the benefits of becoming a member of the American Corner in Struga. The Basics of U.S. Higher Education w/ Ms. Trishita Maula

On April 7th 2016 the American Corner Bitola organized a Coffee with a Diplomat event on the topic “The Basics of U.S. Higher Education" with Ms. Trishita Maula, Second Secretary in the United States Foreign Service. Ms. Maula has previously served in U.S. Embassy Dhaka and the Permanent Mission of the United States to the United Nations in Geneva. She holds a degree in Economics and Mathematics from Barnard College, Columbia University and is a native of New York City. Higher Education in the U.S. is based on a core liberal arts and sciences curriculum that features a broad of humanities courses - art, science, music, history, philosophy, literature- along with in-depth focus on one particular discipline.
