June Meetings

            On June 12th,and June 19th Biljana Kuzmanovska along with the high school members of the CCC had two meetings on which they discussed the following subjects: Book Club, college search but mostly focused on volunteering. The highlight of the evening was the brainstorming idea about a future project that would involve the ethnic minorities of Macedonia.

On the second meeting Erin Houlihan, a Peace Corps Volunteer from Prilep, visited the American Corner Bitola and  held a meeting with the members of the EducationUSA Competitive College Club. Erin had the opportunity to share her experience of the time she was a student and later an employee at many universities. During the discussion, Ms. Houlihan also shared some tips about the SATs, her college application and choosing majors. To find the best way to answer all of their questions through presentations.

IEW SCHOOL VISITS As a part of International Education Week 2018, EducationUSA adviser Biljana K. Tasetovikj visited several Macedonian schools and colleges and spoke with more than 130 students about the opportunities of the U.S. higher education system. On November 13, she visited schools in south-west Macedonia, high schools "Niko Nestor" - Struga, "Yahya Kemal College" - Struga, Gymnasium "St. Kliment Ohridski" - Ohrid and the University of Information Science and Technology "St. Paul the Apostle" - Ohrid. The students had the chance to learn about opportunities to obtain undergraduate and graduate education in the USA as well as the benefits of becoming a member of the American Corner in Struga. The Basics of U.S. Higher Education w/ Ms. Trishita Maula

On April 7th 2016 the American Corner Bitola organized a Coffee with a Diplomat event on the topic “The Basics of U.S. Higher Education" with Ms. Trishita Maula, Second Secretary in the United States Foreign Service. Ms. Maula has previously served in U.S. Embassy Dhaka and the Permanent Mission of the United States to the United Nations in Geneva. She holds a degree in Economics and Mathematics from Barnard College, Columbia University and is a native of New York City. Higher Education in the U.S. is based on a core liberal arts and sciences curriculum that features a broad of humanities courses - art, science, music, history, philosophy, literature- along with in-depth focus on one particular discipline.
