July Meetings

On Monday, July 22nd, and on July 24th the EducationUSA CCC Bitola students gathered for their July meetings.  

The goal of this first meeting in July was to familiarize the students with the Common Application. The students also had the chance to watch an hour long EdUSA Connects Session on the common app and discussed how to successfully use it for admission to U.S. colleges and universities. During this meeting, the students also shared their summer volunteering and camp experiences and ongoing projects and consulted with Biljana Kuzmanovska, the EdUSA adviser at the American Corner Bitola, about how far each of them is in their selecting the right colleges and universities to apply to.



On the second meeting the members of this advanced club, by the guidance of Ms. Biljana Kuzmanovska an EducationUSA Adviser, had the honor of getting to know Ms. Tanya Obetkovski and Ms. Michele Ristovski, both U.S. college graduates, who shared their experience with studying in the States. Ms. Obetkovski shared her experience of finding the right major for her and the experience she gained working as a consular. Ms. Ristovski shared her experience in having two majors and having a semester studying abroad in Spain as a U.S. citizen. The both guest also shared their experience with college life in general and the importance of choosing the right environment to live and study in.

The Basics of U.S. Higher Education w/ Ms. Trishita Maula

On April 7th 2016 the American Corner Bitola organized a Coffee with a Diplomat event on the topic “The Basics of U.S. Higher Education" with Ms. Trishita Maula, Second Secretary in the United States Foreign Service. Ms. Maula has previously served in U.S. Embassy Dhaka and the Permanent Mission of the United States to the United Nations in Geneva. She holds a degree in Economics and Mathematics from Barnard College, Columbia University and is a native of New York City. Higher Education in the U.S. is based on a core liberal arts and sciences curriculum that features a broad of humanities courses - art, science, music, history, philosophy, literature- along with in-depth focus on one particular discipline. IEW SCHOOL VISITS As a part of International Education Week 2018, EducationUSA adviser Biljana K. Tasetovikj visited several Macedonian schools and colleges and spoke with more than 130 students about the opportunities of the U.S. higher education system. On November 13, she visited schools in south-west Macedonia, high schools "Niko Nestor" - Struga, "Yahya Kemal College" - Struga, Gymnasium "St. Kliment Ohridski" - Ohrid and the University of Information Science and Technology "St. Paul the Apostle" - Ohrid. The students had the chance to learn about opportunities to obtain undergraduate and graduate education in the USA as well as the benefits of becoming a member of the American Corner in Struga.
